Part Time, 22.5 hours per week
*A Full UK Driving License is essential for this role*
Working Pattern:
3 days per week, Monday to Friday (which 3 days per week is negotiable)

Salary £23,000 pro rata, per annum

Main duties of the job
Are you:
- You are a thorough, practical and an organised person who is able to work with minimal supervision?
Do you have:
- You have a strong understanding of construction and repair with competencies in carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs?
- Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures?
- Anunderstanding of the problems which may be found in older buildings?
Responsibilities include:
- General maintenance or building experience including carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
The Role
- As a Caretaker at EACH, youll be committed to providing a high standard of interior and exterior maintenance at the hospice. Working with our Facilities Site Manageryou will also be responsible for ensuring essential health and safety tasks are carried out.

Job Summary:
To provide co-ordination of identified site improvement programmes as well as to support and
facilitate the delivery of safe and efficient site maintenance. To implement improvement
requirements in line with identified responsibilities and goals.
Responsibilities:
- Identified portfolio of works as agreed with Site Facilities Manager which include planned
and preventative measures and incorporates future planning of life-cycled maintenance.
- Review site risk assessments and complete identified audit processes as appropriate.
- Monitor identified repeat issues that may occur and implement agreed plans to mitigate
further recurrence.
- Manage concurrent works requirements in order to ensure completion of tasks in a timely
and cost effective manner.
- Check the maintenance logbook and attend to items listed, reporting back to Site Facilities
Manager when completed.
- Attend to all remedial maintenance as discussed with the Site Facilities Manager.
- Undertake property inspections, identifying any issues, repairs or advisory works or
recommendations for the general upkeep of the property.
- Undertake minor plumbing repairs, carpentry, building work and general maintenance.
- Complete reactive maintenance works (e.g. Change light bulbs, check appliances etc) and
carry out such minor electrical repairs as are within the post holders limits and legislation.
- Undertake and assist with maintenance and caretaking tasks, such as painting and
decorating, gardens, fence panels, & gutters.
- Supervising of volunteers as required assisting with developing their skills and knowledge.
- Attending to contractors or tradespersons when necessary.
- Undertake administrative record-keeping as required.
- Order parts supplies and equipment as authorised by the Site Facilities Manager
- Assist with fire emergencies and evacuation procedures, conduct routine testing of
smoke/heat detectors/ Emergency lighting/fire extinguishers as required by legislation and
record in fire log book.
- Undertake any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of
the post and its grading, as requested by your line manager or his/her higher level of
authority.
