Job responsibilities

Title:               Art Psychotherapist

Location:        Sydenham, SE London

Hours:            30 hours per week

Salary:            £40,700 - £48,054 (pro-rata including HCAS)

Founded in 1967, St Christopher's pioneered the modern hospice movement and is internationally renowned as a centre of innovation and expertise in the field of palliative care.  

We are currently expanding our team and reach and in line with this, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic person-centred Art Psychotherapist to join our Psychological and Spiritual Services team. The role will involve assessment and therapeutic interventions for people with life-limiting conditions, as well as families and carers. The post holder will work sensitively to enable people to optimise their independence, make significant differences to their quality of life, impact upon the psychological components of total pain and work with existential concerns. Passion for and expertise in the discipline of art psychotherapy is key.

We are looking for: 

  • a person-centred art psychotherapist with sound clinical reasoning skills and the ability to deliver therapeutic interventions across a complex patient caseload in a specialist palliative care setting
  • experience in clinical practice and working within an MDT
  • ability to deliver therapy to both individuals and groups
  • advanced communication skills and ability to work well in a team

We can offer you:

  • development of specialist knowledge and skills in palliative care rehabilitation 
  • support in working closely with death, dying, and loss
  • opportunity to work within a wider expert multi-professional team
