Job summary
At Birmingham Hospice (formerly St Marys Hospice and John Taylor Memorial Hospice) our teams are committed to improving the quality of life for people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families and loved ones during one of the most challenging periods they will ever face.
We are seeking a Speciality Doctor in Palliative Care Medicine to join our dynamic medical team for 12 months. You will support our multidisciplinary team by providing consistent and outstanding medical care on the inpatient unit, alongside our other medical staff and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
As our Speciality Doctor you will:
Provide a supporting role in the clinical care of patients and families across in-patient and day hospice settings
Support the education programmes within the hospice, teaching a variety of staff and students what good palliative care looks like
Assist with the governance needs of the in-patient unit
Support the post holder to develop experience of Palliative Medicine and enhance skills in end-of-life care
You will be expected to work flexibly between our 2 Hospices at Erdington and Selly Park depending on clinical need.
The on call will cover both bases and it is expected that you would be able to arrive at the hospice within an hour of out of hours if required to assess a patient.

Individuals who join the hospice from the NHS or another hospice will have the employees continuous previous service with any NHS employer recognised in respect of pension provision and annual leave.
