Job summary

We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Hospice Doctor to join our friendly and experienced team. Whether you're seeking full-time, part-time or sessional work, we would love to hear from doctors who have a genuine interest in palliative and end-of-life care.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver high-quality, patient-centred medical care across a variety of settings, including our Inpatient Unit, Day Services and Community. Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team — with support from virtual palliative care consultants — you will contribute to holistic, compassionate care for patients and those close to them.

This role is ideal for doctors with at least two years postgraduate experience, who are seeking a rewarding and meaningful clinical role. Full training and ongoing consultant support will be provided. Previous experience in palliative care is welcome but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred medical care in hospice and community settings
  • Undertake comprehensive palliative care assessments and management plans
  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, carers, and families
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to collaborative care planning
  • Provide telephone advice to community teams, local GPs, and hospital palliative care colleagues
  • Support safe and effective discharge planning
  • Work independently, with access to consultant support (including virtual supervision)
  • Engage in ongoing learning, service development and clinical governance activity
