Job summary
The purpose of
the role is to facilitate high standards of clinical practice in General
Practice through the establishment and delivery of structured support to
student nursing associates, nursing apprentices and other relevant
learners. A key objective is to promote
General Practice as an attractive setting for both nurses and nursing associates,
to develop new pathways to enable entry into the specialism and embed career
development pathways from nursing associate to registered nurse. The post
holder will facilitate the development of networks to support, student nursing
associates, registered nursing associates and apprentice nurses to develop a
community of practice to reduce isolation and vulnerability of their roles.
Main duties of the job
You should be a
Registered Nurse with post registration experience in General Practice with
experience as a clinical educator or a good understanding of pre-registration
nurse education. The General Practice Educator (Nursing Associates) will work
alongside the training hubs within the Integrated Care System (ICS) to support
the following
Raise awareness and promote the role of the
nursing associate (NA) role and the benefits the role can play in PCNs.
Undertake clinical teaching and assessment for
the student nursing associates (SNA) and nursing apprentices to support the
successful completion of their programme if required and nursing associates
(NA) to support their continuous professional development.
Facilitate external placements for student
nursing associates and student nursing apprentices. To utilise learning during
placements and to drive improvements to student experience, increase engagement
and improve retention.
Work with colleagues to develop resources for
primary care employers and non-registered staff which will be supported by a
clear engagement plan. Resources should also guide non- registered staff on
their career pathway.
Support registered nurses and nursing
associates new to the specialism with their development and smooth transition
into General Practice.
