Job summary
This
role forms an integral part of the COVID Vaccination Campaign for the GP
Practices in Surrey Heath.
As a
Registered Health Care Professional confident in working with immunisations,
the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and
effective service for the mass delivery of vaccinations for both influenza and
the COVID-19 vaccine(s). The post holder will undertake activities such as:
clinical assessment for eligibility and consent, dilution and drawing up of the
vaccine from multi-dose vials, administering the vaccine, post vaccine
observations support, management of the cold chain and maintenance of relevant
clinical records.
Main duties of the job
In
particular, the post holder will be responsible for
The
configuration of the vaccination pod and vaccination station or mobile
vaccination equipment.
Supporting
with planning for the clinical session or patient caseload.
Conducting clinical assessments in line with vaccine eligibility and consent
requirements.
The
review of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions.
Preparation of the vaccine prior to administration in line with training and
best practice guidance.
Administration of the vaccine using the National Protocol or Patient Group
Direction.
Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills,
maintaining role-based training and adhering to evidence-based policies and
procedures.

Limited, which is a federation of 7 GP practices across 10 sites, covering a
population of over 97,000 patients across Surrey Heath. We began in 2016 and
now employ around 200 members of staff across our clinical and corporate
support teams. Since 2019 we have hosted

- Registered Health Care Professional; NMC, GPhC, HCPC.

- Meet the NHS England / SPS requirements to work under National Protocol or Patient Group Direction (see NHSE Legal Mechanisms).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Previous experience in similar clinical role.
- Knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Practical skills and knowledge of cold chain procedures and medicines management.
- Working knowledge and literate with computer skills to use of word document, internet access and email correspondence and electronic record keeping.
- Experienced and confident in the vaccination process; managing eligibility and consent conversations and preparing and administering vaccinations.
- Evidence of continuous personal and professional development and willingness to commit to ongoing CPD.

- Specialist knowledge in a relevant subject to post graduate level.
