Job summary

Health Care Assistants work as part of the care team to provide specialised shortbreak and palliative care. Following competency assessments, the postholder delivers highquality clinical and holistic care, supporting children with complex needs and their families.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide care that is culturally sensitive and appropriate to all communities we serve.
  • Report to the Nurse in charge on each shift
  • Able to maintain and develop clinical skills in order to care for children with complex health needs
  • Maintain high standards of care aligned with best practice, hospice values and CQC key lines of enquiry
  • Keep accurate and timely documentation using online database.
  • Admit children into the hospice, ensure child is fit for admission by taking observations. Ensure admission form is completed and the child has brought all necessary equipment
  • Discharge child from the hospice handing over all cares to parents/carers. Ensure child is discharged with all property and equipment.
  • Participate in SBAR handover of children
  • Support children in emergency situations and escort to hospital with paramedics
  • Adhere to all Zoe's Place policies, procedures and guidelines, and promote these to others.
  • Report incidents and accidents promptly to the Nurse in Charge and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Other Duties & Skills Required

  • Demonstrate professionalism, good time management and punctuality at all times.

About us

Zoe's Place Baby Hospice is a nurse led service offering 24-hour short breaks and end of life support for babies and children up to six years old (extended to age eight where appropriate) with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
