Job summary
We're looking for a Public Health Consultant to join our team, specialising in supporting our work with Children, Young People and Families and Health Inequalities at Barnardo's.
We want to be the leading provider of integrated children's health and social care services, to increase the reach of health and wellbeing services and reduce health inequalities in the community.
This role requires a deep understanding of public health principles, child development, and family dynamics to develop evidence-based strategies and interventions to support Children, Young People, and their families.
As a Public Health Consultant specializing in health inequalities, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to reduce disparities in health outcomes and promote equitable access to healthcare services. Your expertise will contribute to improving the overall health and well-being of underserved populations and creating a more just and inclusive healthcare system and programmes of work Barnardo's undertake.
We have started an exciting high-profile programme of work on Child Health Equity along with three ICS's (Integrated Care Systems) and Sir Michael Marmot's Institute of Health Equity which aims to create systems change and improve child health outcomes. You will oversee a small, committed team supporting two specific programmes of work and be able to develop our evidence based public health portfolio of work in Barnardo's.
Main duties of the job
- Leading and further developing a groundbreaking and prestigious programme of work involving Sir Michael Marmot on a Child Health Equity Collaborative which includes three Integrated Care Boards. This work is high profile and involves co-ordinating a wide range and diverse group of stakeholders and co-ordinating programmes of work and evaluations to a very high standard.
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of public health programmes, focussed on children, young people, and families, ensuring there is an alignment with local and national health properties across all regions and nations.
- Utilise best practices and evidence-based approaches to develop and implement targeted interventions that promote the physical, mental health, and social well-being in children, young people, and families that target vulnerable populations.
- Provide expert guidance on child and family health issues to inform policy decisions and promote evidence-informed decision-making.
