Job summary

We're looking for Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to join the expanding MHST's in Morecambe Bay. We wish to appoint people who want to make a difference to the emotional wellbeing of children and young people in education. We're seeking people with relevant qualifications and direct experience of working with child mental health. The role involves working therapeutically with children, young people, and their parent-carers and in partnership with education settings.

Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis to deliver mental health support across a range of educational settings in the areas of Barrow, Kendal, Morecambe and Lancaster (Morecambe Bay) and will be offered an educational programme designed specifically for this role, in partnership with Edge Hill University.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems
  • Help children and young people who require support from specialist services
  • Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) NHS AfC Band 4 / Band 5
  • Support and facilitate staff in education settings to identify issues related to mental health and wellbeing
  • Support with Whole School Approach

To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.

To work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children

. To work co-operatively with childrens services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.

To contribute to Service development.

To apply safeguarding and child protection procedures. For Resources

To be responsible for equipment/resources used in day to day work.

To be responsible for case note recording, contributing to case reports.

For People (Staff, Students, Volunteers)

No management/supervisory responsibility for staff, students or volunteers other than to help and advise colleagues as necessary. (See Addendum.)

For Health and Safety Project Worker 1 Grade:

To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment
