Job summary

Are you driven by a passion to make a difference to young people's lives? We're looking for a registered health visitor to join us as our Strategic Lead forHealth Visiting as part of our new clinical health team at Barnardo's.

This role forms part of our ambition to be the leading provider of integrated children's health and social care services, to increase the reach of health and wellbeing services and reduce health inequalities in the community.

Main duties of the job

As Strategic Lead forHealth Visiting, you'll work as part of a small support team of expert specialist health professionals to ensure the systematic provision of high-quality specialist health visiting interventions for children, young people, and their families/carers.

You'll be helping us to develop our health visiting services, designing and delivering modernisation and service change across care groups, specialisms and care settings. You'll do this through both face to face and digital delivery methods, whether already in place or under development. In addition you will:

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership for our integrated health and social care
  • Develop strategies to ensure the highest standards of care and clinical practice for health visiting services within Barnardo's
  • Create, develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of health projects focused primarily on prevention and integrated child and family health and mental health
  • Identify changes in practice to improve outcomes, in some cases developing and implementing changes in policy and service
  • Provide expertise and specialist advice at regional and national level as required for individual contracts
  • Ensure that all health visitors within the organisation maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and national and local policies
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with clinical colleagues within the organisation to promote the health visiting agenda

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership for integrated health and social care models and services.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of strategies and structures which ensure the highest standards of care, clinical practice and interagency working for health visiting services within Barnardos.
  • Maintain strategic oversite for health visiting activities in relation to service development and advise on health visiting infrastructure and operational delivery for new contractual opportunities.
  • Provide expertise and support to create, develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of health projects focused primarily on prevention and integrated child and family health and mental health.
  • Embed with others a culture of outcomes-based practice, review clinical outcomes of service delivery, and identify changes in practice to improve outcomes.

  • Ensure that all staff providing health visiting services within the organisation have access to appropriate professional supervision in conjunction with the Barnardos University.
  • Provide specialist knowledge, supervision, advice, and leadership across health visiting services, according to the service model, contractual agreements, and guidelines.
  • Act as an expert resource and support to wider Barnardos teams.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of health visiting related policies, procedures, protocols and always ensure adherence of current legislation.
