Job summary

Acorns Children's Hospice are recruiting for a Director of Care & Executive Nurse to lead the provision and strategic development of our care services and to provide knowledgeable, professional and inspirational leadership to our care teams.

The Director of Care & Executive Nurse at Acorns will be a dynamic, passionate and experienced chief nurse leading the entire Care function across our three West Midlands based children's hospices. As an executive leader, they will bring strategic thinking to shape the direction for the delivery of Care services and work collaboratively with fellow directors to help shape the future of Acorns.

The Director of Care & Executive Nurse will inspire others to follow them, creating a culture where the service experience is relentlessly pursued to make things effortless for our clients, families, supporters, partners and colleagues; accessing a curious mindset to explore how we can improve, grow and develop to have even greater impact.

Main duties of the job

You will be a registered nurse, be clinically credible and able to make clinical decisions. Youll have experience of senior or board level management in a clinical setting and experience of managing compliance with CQC and safeguarding legislation. You'll have line management experience and considerable understanding of the development of strategic plans in a health or social care setting.

About us

Established in 1988, Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is a registered charity, based in Birmingham. We offer our childrens hospice service across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire, from our three childrens hospices, in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester and in the community. We care for life limited/life threatened babies, children and young people up to 18 years and support their families. Our dedicated care team of nurses, care assistants and social care professionals provide a range of services including specialist palliative care, bereavement support and advocacy.
