Job summary

Acorns Children's Hospice are now looking for a Clinical Lead to support the Hospice Matron with supervision and development of the hospice team, assess care needs and develop programmes of care

About the Role

At Acorns Childrens Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home.

As Clinical Lead, you will

  • Manage and co-ordinate the clinical area, participating in direct patient care
  • Be responsible for the day to day effective and efficient management of nursing and support staff
  • Take a lead role in clinical development
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints in consultation with the Matron
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives
  • Act up for the Matron in their absence

Main duties of the job

About You

  • Registered healthcare professional
  • Non-medical prescriber (or willing to undertake)
  • Experience of using evidence based practice to influence clinical updates
  • Sound understanding of clincial skills including IV therapy, patient assessment and airway management

  • Additional professional development and leadership activities
  • Care and Assessment of the acutely unwell child
  • Experience of identifying, reporting and recording safeguarding concerns for both Adults and Children.
  • Using Evidence Based Practice to influence the development and delivery of clinical updates

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children with special needs or disability.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Healthcare Professional

  • Advanced Clinical Skills (or be willing to undertake)

  • Able to write / produce accurate, clear written and verbal reports within the service
  • Personal resilience in dealing with distressing, emotive and highly challenging situations and discussions

  • Knowledge of equal opportunities
  • Conducting a Training Needs Analysis
