Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing Fundraising Team. As Supporter Engagement Fundraiser you will manage and grow our individual giving income streams, managing relationships with our supporters across a range of platforms and campaigns.

This is your opportunity to join a friendly, successful and supportive team and play a significant role in delivering fundraising campaigns to support the provision of Hospice care across the borough of Rochdale.

You will share our vision to grow and develop our income and supporter base, be imaginative, resourceful, passionate and enthusiastic.

You should be a strong team player but also able to work autonomously, bringing new ideas and a fresh energy to the team.

It is important to note that this is a new role alongside our existing Supporter Engagement Fundraiser to help manage our expanding income streams within individual giving.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for developing engaging activities to generate income that will contribute to, and grow, annual individual giving income targets.Adapt fundraising styles to inspire, support and nurture relationships and fundraising initiatives across the borough of Rochdale.Provide excellent donor care to supporters for all fundraising activities ensuring long lasting and diverse relationships with Springhills local community.

About us

This role is based at Springhill Hub, Broad Lane, Rochdale.

Springhill Hospice provides the following palliative care services to the local adult population who are suffering from the effects of life-limiting and terminal illnesses:

A 16-bed Inpatient unit providing 24-hour medical and nursing care.

Hospice at Home Service - supports people who want to end their days in their own home by providing the support and symptom management they need to be able to do so.

A Day Therapies Centre for up to 16 patients, 4-days-a-week, offering complementary therapies (e.g. reflexology, aromatherapy and massage); creative and beauty therapies, social activities and clinical support.

Community Service - provides specialist palliative care and support to patients and families in their own homes

A 24-hour Palliative Care Advice Line for patients, families, carers and health professionals.

Bereavement Support for relatives following loss.

Counselling Services for patients, carers and relatives, provided by a qualified therapist.

An Education Unit - an in-house training facility for hospice staff and local health and social care professionals, with the main focus of training being on the Springhill Palliative Care Education Passport' (SPCEP) which ensures that core palliative care skills are taught to all grades of staff.

Responsible for developing engaging activities to generate income that will contribute to, and grow, annual individual giving income targets.

Key responsibilities:

Income Generation

Manage and develop relationships with local solicitors to develop and deliver a successful Make a Will Campaign

Maximise retention by designing and implementing a nurturing and effective supporter journey programme, championing excellent stewardship of donors. In particular with regards to thanking and ensuring that objectives around retention and attrition are met for prospect legacy donors, lottery players and regular givers

Manage the regular giving programme, including the recruitment of new givers and ongoing stewardship of existing givers

Work with our External Lottery Partner to lead on the delivery and growth of the Hospices Lottery activity

Manage and promote the fundraising activity around legacy giving

Identify new opportunities to drive and receive income from individual donors

Planning and Strategy

Play an active role in contributing to the fundraising strategy

Maintain clear plans and evaluations for individual giving activity, providing such updates to the Fundraising Manager

Ensure the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database is maintained and updated in line with internal processes, in order to track support and activity

Work with the Marketing and Communications Team to design and produce all literature, marketing materials and press work in relation to individual giving fundraising activity

Identify opportunities for individual giving volunteer support and work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit suitable volunteers into each role

Ensure all deadlines are met through sound planning and prioritisation

Ensure robust research and innovative thinking is used to improve and enhance fundraising

Provide information, advice and proposals on the development of existing and future individual giving activity to the Fundraising Manager

Reporting and Compliance

Complete status reports and track the progress of initiatives

Ensure all activity is recorded through the fundraising CRM database

Contribute to the development of, and compliance with, all Hospice policies/procedures

Ensure standards are met and legal frameworks adhered to

General:

Attend team meetings as appropriate

Develop a close working relationship with staff and volunteers who work within the Income Generation and Marketing Team, and the wider Hospice Team ensuring that a positive view of the Hospice is promoted at all times

To maintain excellent lines of communication internally with all staff and volunteers; and externally with supporters within the local community

Act as an ambassador for Springhill Hospice, including, but not limited to, undertaking speaking engagements, acting as a spokesperson with the media, attending Springhill Hospice events, and attending networking events and conferences as required

Maintain membership of appropriate professional bodies such as the Hospice Income Generation Network and keep up to date with current trends and changes in charity law and fundraising practice

Attend training as required to maintain own knowledge and further develop expertise

Participate in the Hospice education and training programme, including mandatory training

All staff have a duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves or to others

To read, understand and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures, applying the principles as appropriate to role
