Springhill Hospice is looking for a creative individual to join our Income Generation team. Our Marketing Assistant will play a pivotal role within the Marketing team, responsible for supporting the rest of the department and furthering the brand identity of the Hospice. This role will include creating on-brand materials, writing engaging copy and supporting the team with a variety of marketing tasks.

Main duties of the job

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Hospice Marketing and Communications Team. Daily duties include reviewing and updating Clinical, Income Generation, and Education Team collateral, ensuring all materials comply with the Hospices Brand Guidelines and Tone of Voice. The Marketing Assistant will work closely with all other teams and departments within the Hospice, to provide a harmonious brand experience.

About us

This role is based at Springhill Hub, 7 Broad Lane, Rochdale.

Springhill Hospice provides the following palliative care services to the local adult population who are suffering from the effects of life-limiting and terminal illnesses:

A 16-bed Inpatient unit providing 24-hour medical and nursing care.

Hospice at Home Service - supports people who want to end their days in their own home by providing the support and symptom management they need to be able to do so.

A Day Therapies Centre for up to 16 patients, 4-days-a-week, offering complementary therapies (e.g. reflexology, aromatherapy and massage); creative and beauty therapies, social activities and clinical support.

Community Service - provides specialist palliative care and support to patients and families in their own homes

A 24-hour Palliative Care Advice Line for patients, families, carers and health professionals.

Bereavement Support for relatives following loss.

Counselling Services for patients, carers and relatives, provided by a qualified therapist.

An Education Unit - an in-house training facility for hospice staff and local health and social care professionals, with the main focus of training being on the Springhill Palliative Care Education Passport' (SPCEP) which ensures that core palliative care skills are taught to all grades of staff.

Marketing and Communications

1. Contribute to a comprehensive PR planner.

2. Work with Hospice departments to distribute internal and external communication documents.

3. Create engaging press releases and other written copy to promote Hospice news and income generation activities.

4. Produce template documents to be used Hospice-wide, including powerpoint documents, posters/notices and event signage.

5. Work alongside the other members of the Marketing and Communications Team to develop a case study library, liaising and communicating with clinical colleagues and those who have had first-hand experience of Hospice care.

6. Champion the Springhill Hospice brand, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communications.

7. Create a variety of collateral and materials including leaflets, posters and banners to assist Hospice departments and further the brand identity within the community.

8. Identify and rebrand any materials currently on display and in-use within the Hospice with outdated branding.

9. Create and maintain appropriate and consistent language and terminology across all media.

10. Work across the Hospice to provide support with the design and production of all literature, marketing materials and press work ensuring these display the Hospice brand and key messages.

11. Create and distribute the monthly internal staff newsletter The Spectator.

12. Ensure that consent is captured for all participants and that documents are stored in line with Hospice policy.

Digital transformation

13. Use a range of digital software packages, including Canva, to create and edit content.

14. Manage and maintain Springhills Amazon wish-list, ensuring it is kept up to date with asks from across the various Hospice departments.

15. Use mailing software to distribute the internal newsletter.

Planning and Strategy

16. Play an active role in the delivery of the Hospices strategy toward the development and production of content to promote Springhills events and campaigns.

17. Ensure all deadlines are met through sound planning and prioritisation.

18. Ensure robust research and latest thinking is used to improve and enhance marketing and communications activities.

Reporting and Compliance

19. Contribute to the development of, and ensure compliance with, all Hospice procedures and policies.

20. Ensure standards are met and legal frameworks adhered to across areas of responsibility.

General

21. Attend team meetings as appropriate.

22. Develop a close working relationship with staff and volunteers who work within the Income Generation Teams, and the wider Hospice team ensuring that a positive view of the Hospice is promoted at all times.

23. To maintain excellent lines of communication internally with all staff and volunteers; and externally within the local community, businesses and donors.

24. Attend updates and courses as required to maintain own knowledge and further develop expertise.

25. Participate in the Hospice education and training programmes including mandatory training.

26. All staff have a duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves or to others.

27. To read, understand and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures, applying the principles as appropriate to role.

28. To be aware of individual specific responsibilities in respect of the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, in relation to role.

29. All information relating to patients and staff gained through employment with Springhill Hospice is confidential. Disclosure to any unauthorised person is a serious disciplinary offence under Springhill Hospice Policies.

30. Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the role.

The hours are full time to be worked flexibly to meet the needs of the service. This may involve both evening and weekend working.
