Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, professional and efficient immunisation nurse to deliver the childhood vaccination programme to our registered babies and pre-school children.
Main duties of the job
Part-time post of 5 hours per week.
Administering vaccines to babies and pre-school children registered at the practice.
Screen patients to ensure they meet the inclusion criteria in the Patient Group Direction.
Ensure maintenance of the cold chain process in line with the Standard Operating Procedures.
Compliance of the medicines management standards throughout the process, including awareness of contraindications of vaccination.
Ensure safe preparation of vaccine and provide skilled and effective, evidenced based nursing care to babies and young children in line with national and local standards and standard operating procedures.
Respond to and report clinical emergencies, e.g. anaphylaxis, in line with local and National policy.
Ensure adverse drug reactions are reported through the MHRA system.
Assess and use professional judgement to ensure babies and young children's consent is correct and make informed decisions regarding delivery of vaccines.

Provide an
immunisation service to our registered patients in the surgery.
Provide
immunisations to both children and adults in line with the national childhood
and adult programmes, to include seasonal campaigns.
Provide
supervision and support to HCAs as required on-site.
Work within
National Guidelines, written instructions and Patient Group Directions.
Ensure all
patient records are clear and recorded accurately, including any other relevant
documentation.
Document all
patient contacts as appropriate on our clinical system.
To work closely with practice admin to ensure clinics are appropriately
booked and all documentation is completed and returned to the health board in a
timely manner.
Attend regular
clinical updates and mandatory training as required.
