Job summary

Chapel Street Surgery is a friendly family-orientated GP practice serving approximately 2500 patients, in a pleasant residential area of Walsall, 4 miles from the town centre. The practice, which is situated in its own purpose-built building, is very well established, having been in existence for over 50 years.

This role will suit an experienced Practice Manager or a current Deputy Practice Manager/Locality Manager who is ready to take on the challenges of a Practice Manager role. Where appropriate, support will be available in the early months following appointment from an experienced Senior Practice Manager who has strong links with the practice.

We will offer a competitive salary for the right applicant, access to the NHS pension scheme, paid holidays in excess of the legislative minimum and the possibility of a degree of flexible working.

We anticipate that the role will be for 30 hours per week.

He or She will be a team player who is approachable and is able to lead by example as they manage the practice.

They will appreciate the importance of providing patient-centered services and will support the GPs and wider team in doing so.

The new Practice Manager will ensure the day to day smooth-running of the practice, manage the team of receptionists/administrators including providing training and development opportunities, regular practice meetings and annual appraisals.

The Practice Manager will coordinate the practices work in the Quality and Outcomes framework, will monitor and encourage GPs to complete work that is resourced via Locally and Directly Enhanced Services.

Ideally our new Practice Manager will have experience of using the emis-web system and will be happy leading in various IT areas such as maintenance of the practice website, encouraging appropriate use of digital consulting etc.

About us

The practice has a very experienced, stable team of 2 GP Partners, a part-time Advanced Nurse Practitioner and part-time Practice Nurse, a full-time Health Care Assistant, a Medical Secretary and a team of receptionists/administrators. We are also supported by various ARRS staff provided by the PCN to which we belong.

The practice is rated as 'good' by the CQC, is a high 'QOF' achiever and has recently received recognition from NHS England for the excellent patient feedback received in the 2024 national patient survey.

The practice prides itself on providing a 'family feel' both in the way patients and staff are treated. We are keen to employ a Practice Manager that will understand and contribute to this ethos.
