Meddygfa Tywyn Bach in Burry Port is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant for 20 hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our team, which includes 2 nurses and an HCA. You will hold NVQ level 3 in healthcare ,or equivalent, or be prepared to work towards the qualification.

Main duties of the job
Working as a part of our nursing team under the supervision of a nurse you will be competent to undertake, or working towards competency, in a variety of tasks including
ECGs
Urinalysis
Blood pressure and weight management
Phlebotomy
Administering injections
Simple wound care
Stocking clinical rooms
Providing clerical assistance to the nursing team
About us
Meddygfa Tywyn Bach is an innovative and forward thinking Practice led by our partnership of 2 GPs. We serve and cover a local population of approximately 7,400 patients and are looking to recruit and welcome Practice Nurses to enhance our team.
We are a friendly, professional and caring team who are passionate about providing safe and effective care. Our excellent multi-skilled Clinical Team comprises of 2 GP Partners & 3 Locum GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic, 2 Pharmacists, 3 Practice Nurse &1 HCA.
Our team also includes a Practice Manager, Administrators, and a Secretary. Our reception team who work in a Patient Advisor role providing enhanced signposting and ensuring patients have access to the appropriate clinicians or services available to them.
Supported by our excellent Clinical and non-Clinical teams, Meddygfa Tywyn Bach is a consistently high performer in relation to its contractual obligations including QAIF and Quality Contract services.

Job responsibilities
Measure and record the following height, weight, blood pressure, temperature and pulse updating records as required
Undertake urinalysis after appropriate training
Undertake ECGs after appropriate training
Undertake phlebotomy collecting blood samples by venepuncture and ensuring all protocols for handling, labeling and documenting specimens are adhered to. Prepare samples for transport to laboratory.
Administer injections under an individualized prescription. PSD or PGD ensuring safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs
Undertake dressings within range of training and competence
Act as chaperone
Provide health promotion literature
Check and Stock consulting rooms with clinical supplies, checking current supplies in date
Check and stock resuscitation trolleys
Understand and follow infection control procedures
Carry out all duties in a professional manner adhering to policies and procedures and conforming to current Health and Safety policies and protocols.
Provide clerical assistance to the Practice Manager including support in the recall of patients for clinics
Contribute to clinical governance through participation in risk assessments, audit and research as directed by the lead nurse
Contribute to the maintenance of the practice disease registers and maintain clinical records
Support the development of protocols within the practice
Liaise with other members of the primary care team
Responsible for maintaining own professional development
Responsible for ensuring the practice medical equipment is managed and stocks in the treatment rooms are maintained drawing Health and Safety issues to the notice of the lead nurse.
