Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Practice Nurse to work at Howard House Surgery. This is currently a 12 month fixed term maternity cover, however there may be a possibility to review a permanent position after the 12 months.

The role will include both telephone and F2F contact with patients carrying out general nursing duties including, but not limited to; cervical smears, immunisations, chronic disease management etc. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing patients with diabetes, asthma and COPD however; a willingness to carry out further training is a must. The successful candidate will work in accordance with NMC code of conduct.

Candidates will be highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will need excellent computer skills to enable you to make appointments and enter information on clinical computer systems. Understanding of SystemOne is preferred but not essential.

Howard House Practice has approximately 8500 patients in Felixstowe. The practice is made up of GPs, Nurses, HCAs, Care Navigators, Administrators and prescription team. This is an additional role to work with our current team of Practice Nurses'.

The vacancy is for between 25-37.5 hours a week; however, this may be negotiable for the right candidate. Flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional sickness.

o Cervical smears

o Contraception advice and pill checks

Key Responsibilities

Implement a systematic approach to care, to include efficient and accurate record keeping for the benefit and safety of patients/clients, continuity of care and professional security.

Assist with the development of work practices within agreed policies to provide the optimum standards of care.
