Job summary

Old Swan Health Centre Group Practice are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Clinical Coder and Administrator to join our friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring accurate clinical coding and providing hight-quality administrative support to maintain smooth day to day operations with the practice.

This role will be perfect for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who has a passion for detail, is organised, precise and committed to maintaining high standards of data quality and patient care.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately code clinical records
  • Review all incoming correspondence filing the document and entering pertinent information into the patient's medical record in accordance with the coding protocol.
  • Liaise with clinicians and other health care staff to clarify information for coding purposes
  • Highlight clinical action and workflow to appropriate clinician or team.
  • Checking incoming medical records and summarising onto clinical system.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in line with data protection standards.
  • Assist with audits, reporting and performance monitoring activities.

Our team includes 5 partners, 3 salaried GPs, 4 Registrars, ANP, 2 Practice Nurses, HCA, Physiotherapist, Practice Manager, Reception Manager, Secretary and a team of Receptionist/Care Navigators and Administrative Staff.

Job responsibilities

  • Review all incoming correspondence filing the document and entering pertinent information into the patients electronical medical record in accordance with the Coding Protocol with attention to QOF.
  • Highlight clinician action and workflow to appropriate clinician or team as per Workflow Protocol.
  • Organise the medical record of patient whom you are coding, to link problem titles.
  • Checking incoming medical records and summarising onto clinical system.
  • Recognise own knowledge limits and seek advice from clinical or administrative colleagues as appropriate.
  • To ensure code Safeguarding information and inform Safeguarding Clinical and Admin Lead when required
  • To carry out administrative related tasks as delegated by Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.

Essential

  • Previous experience in clinical coding and or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Awareness of confidentiality, data protection (GDPR) and information governance.
