Job summary

Walker Medical Group is looking for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly and experienced team

We have around 11,000 patients and are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our diverse patient community.

We are looking for a motivated team player who can demonstrate a high standard of clinical excellence and knowledge to provide a safe, effective and easily accessible range of health services.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Nurse will support the delivery of high-quality nursing care and contribute to the smooth operation of clinical services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing compassionate, courteous, and respectful care

  • Chronic disease management reviews

  • Immunisations (child and adult)
  • Cervical cytology
  • Contraceptive services
  • Health promotion
  • Managing personal workload and resources effectively

Walker Medical Group is based in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne, serving around 11,000 patients across a diverse community. Our broad patient base offers rich opportunities for learning and specialising in various areas of medicine.

Our team brings together a diverse group of clinical and non-clinical professionals, working collaboratively to deliver holistic patient care. The clinical team includes Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and GPs, supported by a pharmacist and a social prescriber. They are in turn backed by our dedicated administrative and management teams.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment as a Practice Nurse.

Desirable

  • Experience of quality initiatives i.e. QOF.
  • Experience of chronic disease management.
  • Experience of working autonomously.
  • Experience of infection prevention and control measures.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration with no restrictions.
  • Degree in Adult Nursing.

Desirable

  • Post graduate diploma or degree.
  • Chronic Disease Management.
  • Family planning qualification.
