NEW ROAD SURGERY RUBERY (NEAR BIRMINGHAM)
Part
time practice nurse- we are
looking for an enthusiastic, committed practice nurse to join our existing
nursing team.
The post
is part time 30 hours per week worked over 4 days.
Applicants
must be proficient in providing treatment room services. Applicants will
ideally have experience of diabetes management or respiratory disease. It
is also expected that applicants who have not previously undertaken child
immunisations, travel immunisations and cervical smears must be prepared to
undertake training to provide these services.
Salary:
negotiable dependent on experience, with an option to join the NHS Pension
Scheme.

Main duties of the job
- HCA: Providing supervision, advice and guidance to any practice employed Healthcare Assistant.
- The management of minor injuries, including dressings.
- Phlebotomy.
- Assistance in minor operative procedures.
- Chaperoning the partners, advising non-clinical staff on best practice with regard to chaperoning.
- Advice to patients on disease prevention.
- Contraceptive advice according to practice protocols.
- Cervical smears, breast awareness, swabs and BP checks.
- Administration of immunizations of children & adults.
* Setting up and running disease clinics lead nurse for: Asthma Clinic
* Lead nurse for infection control.
- Audit of practice nurse-run clinics when requested by the partners
- Ensuring adequate stocks of in-date emergency drugs as required in the list provided
- Ensuring medical equipment and other clinical equipment are kept in good working order.
- Carry out daily testing of the fridge temperature, and weekly testing of the defibrillator battery.
- Ensuring that the doctors rooms are kept adequately stocked with items commonly in daily use by the doctors.
- Ensuring that the nurses treatment rooms are kept in a hygienic and safe condition at all time.
- Performing new patient health checks/NHS Health Checks.
- Recording information in the patients computer record (emis web)
- Stock control.
- Other reasonable requests made by the partners or practice manager

practice of four doctors with a list size of 5,250. We currently employ one practice nurse and one HCA.

The practice nurse will be responsible to the partners.
Duties include:
- HCA: Providing supervision, advice and guidance to any practice employed Healthcare Assistant (this may include undertaking annual appraisal for the HCA).
- The management of minor injuries
- Dressings and review of wounds and sutures
- Phlebotomy urgent & fasting, routine when necessary.
- Assistance in minor operative procedures carried out by the partners.
- Chaperoning the partners when required, advising non-clinical staff on best practice with regard to chaperoning
