Job summary

Greengate Medical Centre has an opening for a Nurse Associate to join our exceptional Nursing team. We are situated between Leicester City Centre and Loughborough and provide free staff carparking. We are looking for someone who is professional and personable with an eagerness to learn and upskill where necessary. We offer generous annual leave and time off in lieu options as well as paid tea breaks and a supportive management team.

Wound care/dressings

Chronic disease reviews

Phlebotomy

NHS Health checks

Vaccinations

Administering of injections

Blood pressure monitoring

About us

Our list size is 11,500 patients with 2 practice nurses, 1 HCA, 1 phlebotomist, 1 salaried GP, overseen by 6 very supportive GP Partners. We are a training practice and fully support staff in our organisations' development. We provide flexibility where required in working hours and are very staff-focussed in order for them to provide the best patient care and experience possible.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The Nursing Associate will work with the Registered Nurse and other members of the multi professional team, providing care and monitoring the condition and health needs of patients within their care, contributing to the ongoing assessment, as agreed with supervising clinician(s) and in line with the service pathways.

Carry out long term condition annual reviews delegated by a supervising nurse or senior nurse.

To be able to take observations and identify signs of deterioration and report these appropriately. This may include but not be limited to pulse, blood pressure, respirations, oxygen saturations, peak flow, blood glucose, nutrition, and hydration.

Undertake pathology requests. For example: phlebotomy, urine culture and swabs.

Undertake wound care and management as required

Administer medications as prescribed and in accordance with NMC standards, e.g., via nebuliser or injections using sub-cutaneous or intramuscular route under Patient Specific Directions

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate assist in the assessment, planning and development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes to promote health and wellbeing and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being.

Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as NHS Health Checks.

Obtain and document informed consent (either written or verbal), as required.

Chaperone and assist patients, where appropriate, who are being examined by another clinician.

Cervical Cytology.

Adult and Childhood Immunisations and Vaccinations.
