Job summary

Join our friendly GP practice as a Healthcare Assistant, combining clinical healthcare support with administrative duties. You'll work alongside our experienced clinical team, supporting patient care through health checks,wound care, phlebotomy &chronic disease monitoring. We're looking for someone passionate about patient care who wants to make a real difference in our community.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties include phlebotomy, vital signs monitoring, NHS health checks, chronic disease reviews, wound care, and chaperoning. You'll maintain clinical areas, manage stock, and support within our clinical team. All tasks undertaken with full training and supervision. Computer literacy required for patient record systems and email correspondence.

Job responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice HCA guidelines and protocols, the post holder will support the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy servicesincluding near patient testing for INR, blood glucose, and cholesterol monitoring
  • Vital signs monitoring- measuring and recording blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight, reporting abnormal readings using practice protocols
  • NHS Health Checksand long-term condition monitoring appointments
  • Wound careincluding dressing changes and basic wound assessment
  • Chronic disease support- supporting diabetes, COPD, and hypertension clinics
  • Vaccination administrationfollowing appropriate training and competency assessment
  • ECGsand other basic diagnostic procedures as trained
  • Chaperoningservices when requested by clinicians
  • Clinical area management- preparing, maintaining and restocking treatment rooms to national cleanliness standards

Communication and Team Working

  • Professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues
  • Liaise effectively between clinical and administrative teams
  • Report significant patient issues immediately to appropriate clinician
  • Participate actively in team meetings and practice development

Professional Development

  • Participate in annual individual performance review
  • Complete mandatory training modules annually
