Key tasks & Responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine
tasks related to patient care directed by senior nursing staff and GPs:
Chronic disease management:
Diabetes, Asthma, Hypertension, COPD.
New Patient Medicals and NHS
Health Checks.
Chaperoning and assisting
patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
To summarise patient medical
records.
To adhere to practice policies
and protocols.
To carry out audits as required.
Cervical Cytology.
Baby clinic.
Routine/Travel/Childhood
vaccinations & immunisations.
Home visits to Care Homes and housebound patients to undertake long term condition reviews, blood tests and vaccinations
Maintain Confidentiality at all
times
Adhere to Health & Safety
standards, Safeguarding standards, Equality and Diversity
Other tasks include:
Maintaining and cleaning
equipment used by nurses and GPs.
Maintaining Infection Control
standards by complying with practice protocols
Maintaining stock in GP and
Nurses rooms and rotating items as required.
Maintaining tidiness and
cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms.
Organising repairs or
calibration of medical equipment and servicing of fridges
Ordering of vaccinations to
maintain stock levels.
Audits including cold chain,
infection control and other audits as required.
Logging temperatures of fridges
Participation in administrative
systems in the Practice.
At all times to maintain
accurate clinical records.
To advise the Practice Manager
of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
To attend and participate in
practice education sessions.

outlined in this job description the post holder may have access to
confidential information relating to patients and their carers. All such
information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.
Information relating to
patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the
practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with practice
policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of
personal and sensitive data.
Health & Safety
The post holder will assist in promoting and
maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the
practice health and safety policy including:
Using personal security systems
within the practice.
Identifying risks involved in
work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those
risks.
Make effective use of training
to update skills and knowledge.
Using appropriate infection
control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way free from
hazards.
Reporting potential risks
identified.
Personal/Professional Development
The post holder will participate in any training
programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment this will
include:
Participation in annual
performance review including taking responsibility for maintaining own
personal/professional development.
Taking responsibility for own
development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities
to others who are undertaking similar work.

conjunction with the management will be responsible for ensuring they undertake
