Job summary

We are seeking a caring and driven Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our welcoming and supportive General Practice team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering excellent patient care while supporting the clinical team in the smooth running of the practice.

Working closely with our nursing team and GPs, you will perform a variety of clinical duties. This position is ideal for candidates with prior HCA experience, particularly in primary care or community health, who are enthusiastic, organised, and committed to making a positive impact on patients lives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the nursing team in all aspects of their clinical and administrative activities.

Working alongside the administrative team, the post holder should ensure that all interactions between patients, visitors, and the practice team are conducted to the highest possible standards.

Main Duties Include:

  • - Providing screening and monitoring services

    - New patient health checks

    - ECG

    - Phlebotomy

    - Chaperone

    - Processing and management of laboratory samples

    - Dressings

    - Ear Syringing

    - Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

    - Equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

    - Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

    - Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

    - Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

    - Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

    - Assisting with Minor surgery and contraception Clinics

    - Assisting with annual monitoring reviews for long term conditions.

    - Administration of influenza and pneumococcal immunisations under patient specific directives

    - B12 injections under patient specific directives.

    - Nursing supplied stock control and ordering.

    - Understand and apply the principals of infection control.

Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Team Leader and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and responsibilities:

This post will compliment the role of the clinical support team and will provide general healthcare for patients within the competencies of the post holder.

Main duties include:

- Providing screening and monitoring services for the patient population

- New patient health checks

- ECG recording

- Phlebotomy

- Spirometry

- Chaperoning duties

- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
