join our friendly and highly efficient Practice of 4 GPs specialising in
Dermatology, minor ops, family planning, mens health and occupational health
along with our integrated nurse team including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner
and Nurse specialists.We are a very social and friendly practice whose
superb premises are within easy reach of the South Coast, New Forest,
Bournemouth and Southampton. We are a forward thinking practice full
of ideas and we are happy to nurture and provide mentorship to newly qualified
GPs and ongoing professional support to experienced GPs looking for new challenges.

Hours of work: 6 sessions
per week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and other sessions negotiable, as
set out in the job holders Job Plan.
Contract type: Salaried

Role summary: The post-holder will provide general medical services and deal with a
wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest
standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Location: 36 Parkstone Road, Poole
Annual leave: Six weeks annual leave plus public / bank holidays. Actual leave
is calculated pro rata dependant on start date to end of usual leave year or to
end of contract whichever is the earliest.
Study leave: Please refer to the Contract of Employment. (Study leave is calculated pro
rata dependant on start date to end of usual leave year or to end of contract
whichever is the earliest).
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To
support the GP partners, salaried GPs, the Practice Manager, the nursing and
administration team to deliver a wide range of health needs in a primary care
setting. The appointee will also have the opportunity to take part in leading
on key disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and
prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a
diverse patient list. This is a GMS Practice currently with 5,200 registered
patients.
CLINICAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
In accordance with the practice
timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him / herself available to
undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone
consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing
repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patient
medical reports and examinations (e.g. DWP Reports) on behalf of the Practice,
paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
2.
Making professional, autonomous
decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred
from other health care workers within the organisation;
3.
Recording clear and
contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards;
4.
Collecting data for audit
purposes;
5. Compiling and issuing
computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions
whenever possible);
6.
Prescribing in accordance with
locally agreed or national guidelines;
7.
In general the post-holder will
be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated
with a GP working within primary care.
