Job summary
Team Flegg are looking for a Practice Nurse to join their small team caring for 2000 patients in a rural dispensing surgery.
We would welcome applicants who need to work hours that are flexible around childcare or other commitments, for example - could offer shifts 09:00-14:00 or similar to suit. We would like a minimum of three days per week, but could extend this to more if desired.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide long term condition and chronic disease reviews, as well as treatment room activities to our population, including diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension management, cervical screening, immunisation and wound care. It would be extremely desirable for the applicant to have an independent prescribing qualification that can be applied to those areas.

Fleggburgh Surgery is a small surgery, we are a close knit team, including GPs, ANPs, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, Pharmacists and our Dispensing and Reception Team.

Job Summary
The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team at Fleggburgh Surgery, providing high-quality nursing care to patients. The role includes health promotion, chronic disease management, treatment room duties, and supporting the wider clinical team, including the HCA, to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties
- Deliver a range of nursing services including wound care, dressings, immunisations, and cervical screening
- Undertake health assessments and screenings (e.g., blood pressure, ECGs, spirometry)
- Support patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension
- Administer medications and vaccinations in line with Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
- Assist in minor surgery procedures where required
Health Promotion & Patient Education
- Provide advice on lifestyle changes, including smoking cessation, weight management, and exercise where required
- Support national screening and vaccination programmes
- Promote patient self-care and wellbeing
Chronic Disease Management
- Run clinics for chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, COPD, cardiovascular disease)
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans in collaboration with GPs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Administrative & Team Duties
- Maintain accurate clinical records using the practices IT system
- Ensure clinical equipment is maintained and sterilised appropriately
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff
