Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Dispenser to join #TeamFlegg.

We are looking for a calm, patient individual who can interact well with patients providing a high quality service in accordance to practice policies and procedures.

Previous experience as a dispenser in general practice is essential.

Main duties of the job

All aspects of dispensing following policies and procedures, led by our Dispensary Manager and Practice Pharmacist.

About us

We are a rural GP practice located between Acle and Great Yarmouth, with a list size of approximately 2,000 patients. We use SystmOne.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Dispenser

Receive patient prescriptions including repeat prescriptions.

Check for exemptions ensuring appropriate signature is obtained.

Make up prescriptions ensuring that correct drug and quantity is dispensed.

Obtain payment as appropriate.

To practice stock rotation and stock control adhering to Dispensary protocol.

Ensure that all dispensary equipment is kept in proper order and that all drugs and medicines are stored safely.

Maintain the Controlled Drug Register and the handling of prescription monies and forms.

Unpack and check orders from the wholesale and drug companies, keeping accurate records of any bonus stock received or any discounts.

Generate prescriptions for non-dispensing patients.

Generate private prescriptions, dispense and keep a record of all privately dispensed medication.

To use the clinical system to record all repeat requests and any additional information required.

Keep patients notes up to date with recording of repeat medication and monitor repeat requests, reporting any suspected misuse to the Lead GP.

  • A good standard of education Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English or equivalent proven skill.
  • Excellent IT skills
