We are seeking a prescribing Pharmacist to support the clinical team with administrative workflows, including clinic letters, medication queries and structured medication reviews.
As we adapt to new challenges, we recognise the importance of exploring innovative ways to expand capacity in General Practice. We are keen to utilise the exceptional skills of a Pharmacist to support the care of our registered patients. Flexible ways of working can be negotiated for the right candidate.

About us
Norton Medical Centre is situated just off the A19 in Teesside, with its industrial heritage, framed with a striking coastline and picturesque moorland. We are a high achieving Practice, with 100% in QOF for the 7 years prior to the Pandemic and a strong 40+ year history of teaching and training. Additional services include in-house Minor Operations and LARC services.
With a list size of approximately 17,200 patients, patients are cared for by a team of:
-7 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 2 Retainer GPs, and 2 GPs in Training
-1 Clinical Pharmacist, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 Nurse -Practitioner and 1 Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner
-5 Practice Nurses
-2 Health Care Assistants
-Prescription Team, including a Pharmacy Technician
-Excellent admin team
-A range of hosted services including an Employment and Benefits Advisor
In addition to Practice Staff, patient have access to additional roles through Billingham and Norton Primary Care Network, including Social Prescribing Link Workers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, First Contact Practitioners, and a Mental Health Practitioner.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
- The post holder will undertake a variety of duties including dealing with medication/prescription queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions within clinical competency
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to accepted GMC standards.
- Recording data to support the Quality and Outcomes Framework targets and clinical audit activities.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a Pharmacist working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, eg prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- A commitment to life-long learning, audit and peer appraisal, to ensure evidence based best practice.
- Contributing to training where appropriate
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the Practice, including monitoring and updating patient records for the purpose of QOF and enhanced services.
- Contributing to the upkeep of computer-based patient records.
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
