Job summary

New North Health Centre are looking for a receptionist / administrator to join their growing team. We are looking for someone who is quick to learn, capable of working under their own initiative but who will also flourish as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

  • Greet patients and visitors as they enter the surgery
  • Be welcoming, friendly and helpful to patients and visitors
  • Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments both in person and over the phone in accordance with the practices appointment procedures
  • Signpost patients to the correct services and ensure all patients and visitors are redirected accordingly
  • Ensure the practice is running smoothly and efficiently and helping the practice manage its extensive patient load
  • Be a bridge between patients and the members of the healthcare team to optimise care
  • Undertaking administrative tasks
  • Maintaining the front reception area, ensuring it remains clean and tidy and free of any obstruction and mess
  • Liaising with healthcare professionals when necessary
  • Helping new patients get settled into the practice by walking them through the process of officially joining the GP
  • Using computers to arrange and amend appointments, helping GPs and nurses stay on top of their workload, and patients notes.
  • Registering new patients
  • Processing referrals to secondary care
  • Issuing medications requested by the patient and the pharmacy

About us

New North Health Centre is a small GP surgery in Islington. We have approx. 1400 registered patients but our mission is to grow this. New ownership and management have made big changes to the surgery, and we are now looking for an additional receptionist to join the growing team.
