Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic pharmacy technician to
join our great pharmacy team of two prescribing pharmacists, two pharmacy technicians
and three prescription clerks. This position would suit a Pharmacy Technician
currently in a more junior role who is looking to develop their career with a
move into Primary Care. The practice already has a well established pharmacy
team who would be able to help develop your skills and offer support and
guidance which will enable the right candidate to progress both personally and
professionally. The practice will also ensure you complete a primary care
induction training package to ensure knowledge increase and confidence whilst
moving into this role.
Main duties of the job
The work will initially be administrative based with remote
patient contact. However, within time, and after undertaking the
appropriate training, there may be an opportunity to develop this role to
become more patient facing depending on the interests of the post holder. The
practice are keen to encourage personal skill sets and goals to encourage job
satisfaction.
Although this is a practice role you will get the opportunity to
work with the wider pharmacy team within West of Waverley Primary Care Network
and Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board, with the opportunity to attend
monthly meetings.

Job responsibilities
- Updating and maintaining accurate patient medication records on the practices clinical computer systems, including advice given and action taken.
- Advising the primary health care team on the safe and secure handling of controlled drugs and other medicines, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation.
- Generating prescriptions from requests from patients.
- Reconciliation of medicines from outpatient and discharge letters.
- Liaising with hospital, community and primary care colleagues to ensure correct medicines are continued following transfer of care.
- Supporting practice staff to deliver on the CQC inspections, MRHA alerts, DES contract, QIPP agenda, QOF and locally commissioned enhanced services
- Point of contact for the practice for prescription related queries for healthcare professionals and patients
- Implementing and monitoring the practices adherence to a repeat prescription policy
- Conducting clinical audits as part of the multidisciplinary team
- Implementing, in conjunction with the practice team, systems for monitoring medicines use
- Working with OptimiseRx to ensure the practice is following local formularies to improve the choice and cost effectiveness of medicines.
