Bower Mount Medical Practice has an excellent opportunity for a practice nurse to join our team on a full or part-time basis.
Job Summary:
Working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, the practice nurse will provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services, and advice to patients.
Practice nurse will work with reference to the Practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.
Practice nurse must have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available.
As patients have so many diverse needs, the role of a practice nurse might change on a day-to-day or seasonal basis (for example in the case of seasonal flu vaccination services).
Practice nurses need to be diligent and work well under stressful conditions, this role can be a high-pressure job but with great personal reward.
We are proud to be a 'training practice' therefore mentoring trainee nurses, or trainee nurse associates could be required.

Main duties of the job
Management of Long Term Conditions
Identifying significant abnormalities. Diagnosis, monitoring and development of individual management plans; agreeing these as appropriate with the patient and other health professionals.
Therapeutic Monitoring
Checking compliance with and adherence to appropriate treatments using an holistic patient-centred approach.Recognising abnormalities. Identifying the impact of treatment and implementing or recommending changes as appropriate.
Wound Care and Management
Assessing to support good wound management in routine and more complex situations (e.g. use of Doppler technique)
Risk Assessment
Recognising issues and gathering sufficient information to refer (e.g. drugs; domestic violence; child protection; vulnerable adults; senior patients; social problems)
Health Screening
Recognising issues and gathering sufficient information to refer (e.g. womens and mens health, sexual health, older people)
Undertaking monitoring tasks (e.g. smears) and providing advice as appropriate.
Providing in depth monitoring and advice as appropriate to the level of the post-holders specialty and working with the patient in deciding on management plans. Action lab reports within nurse remit.
Travel Health
Administering injections and providing guidance in accordance with guidelines.
Immunisation (Adult and Child)
Administering appropriate immunisation autonomously.
