Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic 6-8 session GP to join our innovative training practice in the growing market town of Bicester.

We operate a triage system with no Duty days and offer both telephone and F2F appointments.

This is a salaried position with the potential for partnership in the future. We offer a competitive pay structure, flexible working options, and a Wellness Programme. Operating from a single site, we currently have a patient list of 17,200 and are a part-dispensing practice with a team of 11 GPs and a total of around 60 staff and AHPs.

We are a forward-thinking practice, fully embracing the opportunities of multi-professional working with an engaged and motivated team of Allied Healthcare Professionals including a clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technician, paramedic, minor illness specialists, physios, specialist nurses, both child and adult mental health workers, and Turning Point drug workers as well as a PCN resourced Primary Care Visiting Service and frailty team.

Bicester is a growing town to the east of Oxford with easy access to London as well as the beautiful countryside of Oxfordshire and the Chilterns. The expansion of the town has included the redevelopment of Bicester Heritage Centre for motoring and flying enthusiasts alongside a micro-brewery and gin distillery, there is a new David Lloyd gym and pool close to the surgery, as well as the Bicester Village shopping centre.

Main duties of the job

Manage a varied patient list with a range of healthcare needs in a primary care setting, ensure the highest standard of care for all. The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care following GMC guidelines.

Provide highly effective medical care to patients - to include clinical sessions, clinical admin and other duties

Patient consultations telephone, face to face and occasional home visits as appropriate

Effective management of long-term conditions

Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Work as a team member with all relevant providers of primary and community care services

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidelines

Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes in accordance with good practice, practice policy and guidance

Process administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated tasks

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Our GPs work 14 appointments per session and we operate a triage system with no Duty days

There are a number of working groups and clinical specialists within the practice and whilst contribution to these groups or roles is not a required part of the role, engagement with the wider practice in this way is encouraged and rewarded.
