Job summary

We recognise that a secure job and place to live are key to enabling may of patients to live a heathier lifestyle. In partnership with Goldsmiths Community Centre we are relaunching the Goldsmiths Coffee Shop as a community cage that provides training opportunities and pathways to work for people who that little bit too far from the workforce at present including people with lived experience of mental ill health.

Our aim is to train volunteers as Baristas and link them to paid roles in local businesses. As the Health and Coffee Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-focused vocational training. You will work with groups of up to 6 learners, developing their practical and theoretical skills including their adherence to industry expectations for health and safety. You will work with industry professionals to provide an overview of the opportunities for employment to develop their aspirations. As part of the learning experience, learners will work in the Goldsmiths Café which is fully equipped.

Main duties of the job

As a trainer you will be guiding people through their education as a barista or coffee shop assistant and we are looking for someone who is:

The post holder will have a key role in supporting our work in health promotion and will support trainees to engage with our Heath Coaches and Social Prescribers.

About us

Sevenfields Primary Care Network (PCN) is one of the largest PCNs (of six) in Lewisham and is seeking to be a key driving force for improving community health and wellbeing in the neighbourhood. Our PCN is made up of 7 GP Practices serving a population of around 70,000 patients. We are led by a local GP who performs the role of Clinical Director: Dr Helen Tattersfield (Oakview Family Practice).

Job description

Job responsibilities

This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess and support patients

b. To coach and motivate patients through multiple sessions to identify their needs set goals, help them on their journey to paid work and support them to implement their personalised health and care plan.

c. To provide personalised support to individuals, their families and carers to ensure that they are active participants in their own healthcare and to empower them to take more control in manging their own health and well-being, to live independently and to improve their health outcomes

d. Working with the social prescribing service to connect them to community-based activities which support their health and well-being

e. To provide support to local community groups and work with other health, social care and voluntary sector providers to support patients health and well-being holistically

f. To be responsible for the day-to-day planning of personal workloads

g. To follow departmental policies procedures and guidelines

h. To promote health coaching and social prescribing

i. To undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes

Secondary responsibilities

a. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the health and well-being coach may be requested to:

b. Undertake any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
