Main duties of the job
To provide the day to day management skills to enable the Practice to provide its General Medical Services (GMS) contract services within an efficient, safe and effective working environment.
About us
Old School Surgery is located in the beautiful, rural town of Cranbrook, Kent and are housed in a historic converted school building. We provide a service to 3,790 patients under the terms of a general medical services (GMS) contract. Our staff is made up of two GP partners, one salaried GP, a practice nurse, a business manager, dispensers and administration staff. We are a part of a wider GP federation, West Kent Primary Care and form a part of the Weald Primary Care Network.

Job responsibilities
- Front line contact for all non-clinical email and
correspondence with responsibility to sift, interpret, disseminate and action
in a timely way
- Responsible for ensuring that all claims are made for Income
Streams
- To undertake the smooth day to day running of the Practice
including ensuring adequate staffing cover, dealing with day to day staff
concerns, ensuring the premises comply with Health and Safety regulations and
that premises and equipment are procured and maintained effectively to enable
staff to effectively carry out their roles.
- To ensure staff adhere to policies and protocols to ensure
staff safety and safe and effective patient care.
- To support recruitment for all staff roles ensuring necessary
staff checks are performed such as DBS, vaccination, registration checks etc.

- To act as IT administrator to create and manage IT accounts
and access necessary to allow clinicians and admin staff to carry out their
roles.
- To identify areas for
improvement and liaise with the Business Manager to facilitate business
improvement and adoption of new policies and procedures
- To provide the Finance Manager with required information to
enable financial deadlines and controls to be met.
- To manage clinical templates, locum cover, holiday
configuration and accrual, sickness recording, data storage and data security
- To handle patient complaints and document significant events
including outcomes and learning points
- To oversee the training and appraisal of staff, collating
input from staff to support this process.
