Job summary

We are looking for an efficient Practice Manager to manage the operational and HR functions within the Practice and provide leadership to the team.

Main duties of the job

Role Overview:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and organisation of the Practice in conjunction with the Partners and all members of the team.
  • Manage all staff rotas, holiday times, submit pensions, tax and NI etc.
  • Responsible for staff management, contracts, training, appraisals and implementation of employment legislation etc.
  • Manage the Practice premises and contractors ensuring that it is appropriately maintained to ensure the health and safety of all users. Although you will be involved in the re-location of our premises, the Managing Partner will work with you in project managing this process.
  • Manage the procurement of Practice equipment, supplies and services and ensure appropriate legislation, insurance etc is correctly in place.
  • Review and develop Practice protocols and policies and ensure that they are managed and accessible through the Practice Teamnet platform.
  • Maintain the Practice's Care Quality Commission registration ensuring that all standards and requirements are implemented and maintained, preparing, and managing CQC inspections and reviews.
  • Carry out Risk Assessments, COSHH and manage contracts required or Health & Safety e.g., Fire and security systems.
  • Work closely with the PCN (Primary Care Network), attending meetings and ensuring that QIS, QOF targets are correctly managed for maximum achievement etc.
  • Work in conjunction with the Partners to ensure income streams are monitored and managed.

About us

Haverthwaite Surgery is a small, friendly semi-rural dispensing Practice situated in the Lake District National Park near Lake Windermere. We deliver high quality health care to our cohort of 2,800 patients locally from our Surgery in the village of Backbarrow.

Our staff consists of 1 GP Partner, 1 Managing Partner, 2 long-term locums GPs, 1 ANP, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA, 1 Dispenser and 6 receptionist/clerical staff. We work closely with South Lakes Primary Care Network to ensure that we deliver exceptional care through a close-knit, supportive working community.
