Job summary

  • We are pleased to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, forward thinking, friendly and supportive team in the Earlsdon area of Coventry; part of Go West PCN. This is due to one of our much loved GP's relocating abroad. We are a high QOF achieving practice and pride ourselves on working collaboratively to support all team members. We are looking for a salaried GP to cover 6 sessions inclusive of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with opportunity of further sessions dependent upon the successful candidate. You will be a key part of the practice team delivering high quality care to our patients.
  • Our Practice Director is is also a Director for Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance. We have a active Patient Participation Group whose members include Healthwatch representatives. We outsource our private reports and have strong links with community organisations.

Main duties of the job

  • The salaried GP will play an integral role in ensuring an integrated and focused healthcare provision relevant to the differing needs of the patient population
  • The salaried GP will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a full range of general medical services to patient groups.
  • The post holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Job responsibilities

  • In accordance with Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Offer and carry out consultations and where appropriate, physical examinations for the purposes of identifying and reducing the risk of illness, disease or injury, including immediately necessary and temporary patients.
  • To carry out screening on patients for disease factors and early signs of illness; In consultation with patients and in line with any current practice disease management protocols develop care plans for health;
  • To provide counselling and support to patients with Mental Health issues; To take clinical responsibility for registered patients and maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous records and notes of treatment given and NHS services provided.
  • To give advice to patients on general health matters and in particular about the significance of risk activities i.e. use of tobacco, consumption of alcohol and the misuse of drugs and/or solvents;
