Job summary

Meadowbrook Surgery are looking to recruit a reliable, hardworking person to join our reception/administrative team who can work well within a team as well as independently. Demonstrate a caring attitude towards our patients whilst maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role is to offer administrative support to our clinical team as outlined below:

Booking appointments

Processing telephone requests for appointments, home visits, telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional

Processing and distributing incoming/outgoing mail

Taking messages and passing on information

Filing and retrieving paperwork

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation: Processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers

Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of English & Maths GCSE C or equivalent

Desirable

  • NVQ Customer care level 2

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years experience of working within a general practice environment Proficient in the use of EMIS web, DOCMAN and AccuRx

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a GP practice

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail Excellent customer services skills Excellent verbal and written communicating skills Problem solving skills Ability to work without direct supervision Ability to manage time and workload Manage multiple tasks and conflicting demands Ability to work under pressure and maintain a professional/effective approach Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time Ability to deal with matters in a confidential manner Willingness to work additional hours to cover the holiday/sick leave of other staff
