A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic 6 session Salaried GP to join our dynamic and supportive team at Eastleigh Medical Practice previously Archers Practice. We are a large, friendly, and forward-thinking GP training practice, committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse population of over 14500 patients. We work very closely with our sister practice Boyatt Wood Surgery making our combined list 23000 patients.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse patient caseload across all age groups
  • Face-to-face, video and telephone consultations
  • Issuing and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Clinical triage and participation in the duty GP rota
  • Occasional home visits for housebound frail elderly and palliative patients
  • Participating in clinical meetings and quality improvement work
  • Supporting the teaching and supervision of medical students and GP trainees

Job responsibilities

Overall Purpose to provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients on the Practice list.

Job Summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make himself/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including F2F consultations, telephone consultations answer e consults, triage calls, triage visits, action test results and requesting appropriate tests for patients checking and signing of acute and repeat prescriptions and dealing with any self generated paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Respond to medical problems presented by regular and temporary residents as required.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary / HIOW Formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Participate in training plans of medical students as required.

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Maintaining, monitoring and updating computer database and management of medical records and practice audits

Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.

Appropriate use of read codes.

Practice Organization

Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence

Attendance at in-house meetings, significant event audit meetings and locality meetings

Ensure that the practice complaints system is adhered to at all times

Awareness and compliance with all relevant guidelines e.g. data protection, confidentiality and health and safety

Maintain current BLS and anaphylaxis certification, Level 3 safeguarding adult and child, Infection Control, Information Governance, Fire and any other mandatory training that may be required by the Practice.

You will be required to attend clinical meetings at the Practice and the locality and also take part in clinical activities to ensure the smooth running of the Practice.

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately

Ensuring that all accident or dangerous accidents are reported.
