Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly team of Nurses, HCA's and ANP's.

You will need to be able to work independently in all areas of practice nursing including treatment room and long term conditions management. Continuous training will be offered.

We are open to full or part time hours and will be offering a competitive salary and NHS Pension.

Informal visits to the practice would be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

Job Summary:

The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.

Job Responsibilities: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior staff and GPs

Cytology

Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler

Removal of Sutures and clips

New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis

ECGs

Venepuncture

Asthma, Diabetes ( trained to manage any one condition)

Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations and managing recall systems

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Coronary Heart Disease management with referral to GPs as appropriate

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

Administer Injections like B12, Depo, Nebido, Clexane, Zoladex, Pneumonia, Shingles & Flu

Other tasks will include:

As Infection Control Lead to carry out audits monthly and annual

Check GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required

Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms

Ordering of Health Promotion Literature

Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels

Checking emergency equipment and fridge temp

Responsible for Drug Box, First aid box and oxygen.

At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

On occassion under take home visits if required.

About us

We are an Eastleigh based practice with approximately 14700/ patients looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. You will be based at Archers Practice which has parking facilities and is close to the Eastleigh town centre.

We hold multi disciplinary practice meetings on a monthly basis, and we will provide all mandatory training required eg safeguarding, information governance, BLS, infection control etc. The surgery has various clinical training events where an external trainer attends each month. The Practice also pays for 3 additional courses a year to contribute towards the candidates continuing professional development.

The successful candidate must be able to work well independently or within a team environment.

You need to be able to work independently and manage atleast one chronic condition( diabetes or asthma) Our priority is to deliver safe,high quality care through face to face consultations.

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
