We are excited to announce that within the Knowsley Primary Care Network we are seeking to recruit Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioners (TAPPs)
You will work in clinical settings, under the supervision of a qualified psychological professional and engage in University study 1 day a week, based at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Some University days will require attendance, whilst other days will be delivered remotely and study days may not require attendance at a specific site. You will be working towards completing a funded Postgraduate Certificate Associate Practitioner Psychology (PGCert APP). Upon completion of the clinical role and academic requirements (1 year), you will then qualify as an Associate Psychological Practitioner (APP).
You will be part of a career gateway for psychology graduates and help tackle a shortage of psychological professionals in the NHS. We recognise there are many talented psychology graduates looking to work in the field of psychological healthcare, but very limited opportunities and we intent to change this.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a qualified psychological professional, the TAPPs role will include completing psychological assessments, structured formulations and delivering, and supporting in the delivery of, psychological interventions.
The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) providing a high-quality service to individuals and their carers/family/support system of all ages at-risk of, experiencing or recovering from mental health difficulties.
Forge strong and healthy connections between physical and mental health care within a community setting as part of a holistic approach, where this is required by the service.
Where required by the service, to co-deliver group interventions that relate to providing information about wellbeing, mental health and resiliency. This may relate to an already established group or to being part of wellbeing promotion events at various community hubs.
The post holder will engage with clinical supervision with a named member of qualified psychology staff.
Assist in the development, design and implementation of programme and project work.
About us
We are looking to employ TAPPs within Primary Care Network (PCN) settings across Knowsley.
PCNs are a group of General Practice Surgeries who work together and share resources. Being part of the PCN team, you will work alongside other members of the behaviour change team, such as other mental health practitioners, social prescribers and health and wellbeing coaches.
Working across a PCN, you will provide assessments, structured formulations and brief psychological interventions to help meet presenting need and supporting your General Practice colleagues.
