Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, flexible Health Care Assistant to support the practice team. Ideally experience of phlebotomy, a Care certificate and able to start at short notice is preferred but training can be given to the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
Job Responsibilities may include:
- New patient health checks
- NHS patient health checks including cholesterol testing and the administrative paperwork involved
- BP monitoring including 24 hour BP monitoring
- Height, weight and BMI measurements
- Alcohol recording
- Urinanalysis
- Ear irrigation
- Basic wound care and dressings; stitch and suture removal
- Set up and assist in minor surgical procedures
- Flu, B12 and Pneumococcal vaccinations
- Undertake specific clinical activities for named patients e.g. annual Learning Disabilities review
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Give lifestyle advice to patients (including diet, weight and exercise) and make any necessary referral to local support services
- Support the practice with health promotion and education activities
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data to enhance the practice QOF achievement
- Maintaining the health promotion literature within the practices public areas, ensuring information is current and appropriate
- Emergency Drugs
- Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients computerised medical record in a timely manner, using templates where applicable
- Check NHS mail on a daily basis and respond to emails as required

enthusiastic, flexible and experienced Receptionist to join our friendly &
professional practice team on a full-time basis.
The
successful applicant is expected to have relevant proven experience in the NHS,
within a GP Surgery environment.
Good communication
skills with the ability to work both independently and closely as part of a
team are expected. Knowledge of EMIS Web will be an advantage.
Salary is negotiable
depending on qualifications and experience.
