Job summary
We are looking for a full time Surgery Manager for our busy GP Surgery in Hanslope village.
The Parks Medical Practice is based over four sites in Northampton and has a combined list size of 23,000 patients. There are surgery managers based at each practice to oversee the day to day running and work with the GP partners and patients to ensure smooth running of each site.
Main duties of the job
The Surgery Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of a busy GP surgery based in Hanslope village.
The role will involve working closely with the management team and your own local team to support the same and appriopriate operation of a primary care medical centre.
This varied role includes premises and personnel management, there is also a "customer care" element as you will be managing patients expectations.

We have a surgery manager based at each practice to oversee the day to day running and work with the GP Partners and patients to ensure smooth running of the practices. We are a dispensing practice and work closely with the Primary Care Network to provide care for all our patients. The practice is a teaching practice, provides NHS and private surgery for patients and is innovative and forward thinking and will continue to engage with the local areas to provide services needed for the practice population.

- Complete all duties in compliance with practice guidelines
- Ensure that all Health and Safety guidelines for safe working are followed
- Manage the recruitment of staff in line with the practice policy
- Maintain confidentiality concerning all aspects of the practice
- To provide support for staff and to promote teambuilding and team working within the site
- To administer and have initial responsibility for the practice disciplinary and grievance procedures
- To promote effective communication amongst staff and partners
- To identify staff training needs and to identify and/or develop effective training programmes to meet them
- To manage a comprehensive, fair and effective system of staff appraisal linked to staff development and training
- To manage attendance, annual leave, and payroll information
- You will have overall accountability for the clinical rota (supported by other members of the team) and be responsible for the day to day smooth running of the practice. You will benefit from the oversight and support of a Practice Manager based at Blisworth who you will be required to develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders such as the local NHS commissioners.
- On a day to day basis ensure the delivery of excellent patient care by leading the practice team with vision and drive
- Be the champion of an inclusive, high-performing, and inspired team culture with strong communication and people management skills
- Manage services as required to meet contractual, quality and safety expectations and targets
- Ensure there is a system in place to effectively communicate with staff and patients within the practice including regular practice meetings and leadership of the practice Patient Participation Group
- Plan and deliver the necessary changes to the running of the practice to ensue the needs of patients and contractual obligations are met eg revised work plans and rotas
