Job summary

This Administration Receptionist role will provide a great opportunity for a highly motivated and organised individual wanting develop a career in administration, customer service within a medical environment.

Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive professional and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Complete a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list -

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Taking messages and passing on information
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Creation of patient-specific data reports using Read Codes

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures. Input and extract information from Practice computer system (TPP SystmOne).

Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers

  • Providing clerical assistance to practice including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.

Eden Surgery is a small, friendly Practice providing high-quality, patient-focused care to 4,100 patients in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

We are looking to recruit an experienced & highly motivated Receptionist/Administrator to join our friendly Practice team for 26 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will have the energy and enthusiasm to work within our Practice team and will project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent customer service skills. Experience within a General Practice environment is preferred but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, being able to work as part of a team but also using your initiative when required to do so.
