An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Arun Integrated Care PCN as a Pharmacy Technician.
The successful candidate will work alongside our existing team to deliver safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines by applying their pharmaceutical, clinical & technical skills. The role will provide a brilliant opportunity for the right candidate to develop their knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will help patients get the best from their medicines by communicating changes to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescription processes, minimising clinical risk, aiming to reduce wasted medicines and promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering.

We are a 3 practice PCN, formed of Westcourt Medical Centre, The Park Surgery and Willow Green Surgery. The partners are supported by a number of GP's, a large nursing team and a variety of administration roles, offering a warm and friendly welcome. We provide care for around 39,000 patients.

Job responsibilities
- Work with the Clinical Pharmacists and Clinicians in accordance with agreed practice prescribing standard operating procedures
- Process repeat medication requests, including the conversion of acute requests to repeat medicines, changing quantities of medicines. Processing prescriptions in line with agreed clinical protocols and within your competency
- As determined by the PCN, support medication reviews/monitoring and medicines reconciliation post discharge and synchronizing medicines for patient, especially if transferring between care settings, linking with local community pharmacies
- Undertake patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicine use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients
- Support the Clinicians and Clinical Pharmacists in Structure Medication Reviews. i.e. organise necessary monitoring tests prior to SMR.
- Manage shared protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacists for more complex patients
- To develop and maintain medicines related communication to all practice staff
- To assist with the development and review of medicine audits
- Provide a contact for patients and colleagues with medication queries
- Support the project work/prescribing initiatives/clinical audits under the support of the Pharmacist
- Liaise with Clinicians and staff to resolve prescribing queries
- Provide training and support on legal, safe and secure handling of medicines, including the implementation and increased use of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
- Promote Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) and online ordering as appropriate to patient and practice needs
- Support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings
- Review and develop policies in line with CQC compliance
- Through the use of audit and action planning, help to tackle health inequalities

Qualifications
Essential
- Professional registration with GPhc.
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
- Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy.
- Good clinical pharmacy knowledge, including terminology.
- Computer literate (MS office packages).
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to adjust to suit the audience.
- Strong understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
- Self-motivated and pro-active.
