Job summary
We are currently recruiting for a part time Pharmacy Technician to join our established Pharmacy Team which consists of two Pharmacists, a Pharmacy Technician and prescription clerks. We are a supportive, forward thinking practice who use SystmOne TPP clinical system.
Main duties of the job
Our pharmacy technicians are an integral part of our general practice team. This role will work under the supervision of the Senior clinical pharmacist and GP partners. They will provide technical and administrative support to the clinical pharmacist and clinicians.

Job responsibilities
- Undertaking medicines reconciliation in accordance to practice protocols and to update patients medical records / prescribing accordingly
- Complete medication reviews (pharm techs will be supported with their learning of these)
- To support the achievement of the practices prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets
- Working with the pharmacy team to contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols / standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescribing systems.
- To participate in medication audits.
- To support the Clinical Pharmacist and GP Partners in providing medication reviews, patient information leaflets and medicines awareness within own competence and referring when appropriate.
- To take a proactive approach to the safe handling of prescriptions, including assessment of risk and making recommendations for improvement.
- To respond to medication and prescription queries from patients and staff in a professional manner, referring to the appropriate clinician in accordance to practice protocols.
- To advise on the sourcing and safe management of medicines as appropriate
- Acknowledging MHRA safety alerts by performing system searches and responding accordingly.
