Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

This is an exciting dual-role position that suits someone who enjoys working with patients and possesses strong organisational and IT skills. You will support the clinical team with a range of direct patient care tasks, while also assisting the practice manager with administrative tasks related to clinical quality, performance and finance.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities (approx. 6070% of the work)

  • Undertake clinical tasks such as: Blood pressure checks Phlebotomy (blood taking) ECGs
  • Wound care and dressings
  • Health checks (e.g., NHS Health Checks)
  • Vaccinations (if trained) Support chronic disease reviews (under supervision of a nurse or GP)
  • Record accurate patient information and observations
  • Support clinicians during minor procedures and health promotion campaigns
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure equipment is clean and in working order.

Administrative & Financial Support (approx. 3040% of the work)

Assist in data input, extraction, and reporting for:

  • QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) IIF (Investment and Impact Fund) Local Enhanced Services (LES)
  • Help monitor appointment utilisation and clinical performance indicators
  • Support month-end financial reconciliations and invoicing for services rendered
  • Maintain accurate records of claims submitted to NHS bodies.
  • Liaise with external providers and commissioners when needed
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to audit and improvement projects

Additionally, experience in primary care and familiarity with local NHS data reporting or the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) is essential.
