Job summary

We are keen to introduce the GPA role at Collingham as we have identified there is an opportunity for a GPA to support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

We see the role being 25 hours per week working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 5 hours per day.

Main duties of the job

Arranging appointments, referrals and follow up appointments of patients

Completing basic (non-opinion) forms for the GP to approve and sign including, but not limited to, insurance, mortgage and Department for Work and Pensions forms.

Explaining treatment procedures to patients including arranging follow up appointments

Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies i.e. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)

Be trained to do workflow

Be familliar with working on System One

Lead on health promotion and education work

About us

We are a rural practice, serving almost 8000 patients. As a training practice we welcome GP registrars and medical students.

We have an experienced team of patient care advisors and we envisage the role of the GPA working alongside our patient care advisors and GPs.

We have free on site parking and good commuter links.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a GP Practice. Preferably with some clinical knowledge.
  • A strong interest in health and social care.
  • Be familiar working on System One
  • Preferable but not essential as training will be given - knowledge of Dot Recall.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Dot Recall.
  • Knowledge of how to run reports on System One.
  • Has previously worked in GP practice.
