Belmont Health Centre is looking to recruit an experienced, professional, and highly organised Pharmacy Technician to join our busy and supportive primary care team.

This is an important role within the practice, supporting the safe, effective, and efficient management of medicines for our patient population. The successful candidate will work closely with GPs, clinical pharmacists, nurses, administrative staff, community pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals to help deliver high-quality prescribing and medicines optimisation services.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with previous primary care experience, who understand the demands of general practice and can work confidently within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and committed to patient safety, with strong communication skills and a good understanding of prescribing systems, medicines reconciliation, repeat prescribing, and medication monitoring in a GP practice setting

Main duties of the job

The postholder will support the practice in delivering safe and effective medicines management services. Key duties will include:

  • Supporting medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge, outpatient letters, and other transitions of care

  • Managing and resolving prescription queries from patients, clinicians, care homes, and community pharmacies

  • Supporting safe and efficient repeat prescribing processes

  • Identifying patients requiring medication monitoring, review, or recall

  • Assisting with structured medication reviews under the supervision of the clinical pharmacist and GPs

  • Carrying out prescribing searches, medicines audits, and quality improvement work

  • Supporting the management of safety alerts, prescribing actions, and medicines-related administrative tasks

  • Liaising with community pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care

  • Contributing to medicines optimisation and prescribing safety across the practice

  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and working within practice protocols, policies, and professional standards
