Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to join our Practice as a Paramedic Practitioner.

The role is varied, working closely with the GP on call for the day who is responsible for the urgent same day workload. The paramedic will provide a home visiting service and also the provision of same day urgent care appointments. Support, supervision and additional training will be provided where necessary.

Ideally the preferred candidate will have completed their non-medical prescribing qualification. If the candidate is not yet qualified then they must be willing to undertake this training.

Training and supervision will be provided to help the candidate attain skills to carry out the key duties and responsibilities

7. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous health records appropriate to the consultation, ensuring accurate completion of all necessary documentation associate with patient health care and registration with the practice.

8. Review medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways. This will be done in accordance with evidence based practice and national and practice protocols, and within the scope of practice.

9. Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments

10. Provide information and advice on prescriber or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions.

11. Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment / interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis, and patients with complex needs.

12. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly

13. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

14. Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug based treatment methods into a management plan

15. Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, an apply principles of self-care.
